HOW TO MAKE AN AUTUMN FLOWER WREATH

It's the finishing touches that make decorating your home complete and a custom made wreath could be the solution.

There is so much choice available but it isn't always easy to find the perfect solution for your personal style and taste.

Now is the time to get crafty and make your own with our step by step guide.

STEP ONE

Select your tools and ingredients. We have used the following:

30cm willow wreath

Assorted Autumn leaves

Assorted Autumn berries

Faux flowers - chrysanthemums, hydrangeas, echinops thistles

Hot Glue Gun

Wire cutters

When selecting your ingredients give thought not just to colour but also texture.

STEP TWO

Cut leaves and flowers to required length

STEP THREE

Using a hot glue gun start by gluing your foliage in place, pushing the stems of the foliage between the willow of the wreath base. Try to create a 3D effect by laying some flat and others more forward facing. Ensure stems are all spiralling in the same direction. Finish when you have a background that is full and evenly shaped.

STEP FOUR

Use a hot glue gun to add your flowers, berries and fruit in between the foliage. Beginners will find it easier to work with one flower type at a time, largest flowers first. If you are unsure of flower placement lay them in place and move them around until you like how they look before gluing into position.

TOP TIP - if using small numbers of large flowers an odd number often looks more aesthetically pleasing. 3 will look better than 2. 4 might make a round ring look square so add a fifth to make a more pleasing shape.
